A custom-built adapter from Cardas Audio's acclaimed Parsec range, configured to let demanding low-sensitivity headphones — such as the HiFiMan Susvara, HE-6 and Abyss AB-1266 — be driven directly from the speaker outputs of an integrated or power amplifier. One end terminates in a 4-pin XLR female connector to mate with a balanced headphone cable; the other splits into four gold-plated banana plugs (red for positive, black for negative, left and right channels) that connect to standard speaker binding posts.
Built around Cardas's signature Parsec conductor geometry — Grade 1, 99.9999% (6N) oxygen-free copper in Litz construction with every strand individually insulated, and gauge sizes scaled to Golden Ratio proportions for natural harmonic balance — this cable delivers the warm midrange, extended bass and rich, non-fatiguing presentation that have made the Parsec series one of the most highly regarded value cables in high-end audio. Speaker amplifiers can deliver tens of watts into a headphone load, vastly more power than any headphone is designed to handle. Incorrect use can instantly and permanently destroy your headphones, and at worst cause serious hearing damage. Before connecting:
- Set the amplifier volume to absolute minimum before plugging in.
- Use only with a stereo (non-bridged) amplifier. Never connect to a bridged amplifier, mono-block in BTL mode, or any amplifier where the negative speaker terminal is not at ground potential — doing so will likely destroy the headphones.
- Verify channel and polarity at both ends (red = positive, black = negative) before powering on.
- Always begin listening at very low volume and increase gradually.
- Never connect or disconnect while the amplifier is powered on or playing signal.
- Disconnect when not in use — accidental volume changes during normal speaker listening can be catastrophic.
